HAMILTON
Cutting edge, practical and precise: Hamilton uses a unique combination of Swiss precision and American spirit to create distinctive and versatile watches dedicated to enthusiasts and those who are attentive to style. In its long history, Hamilton has achieved numerous milestones, which have contributed to making it today a solid and internationally renowned watch brand. Hamilton has its roots in the United States, where it was founded in 1892. The original factory was located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and the company was based there for the first 111 years of its life. Hamilton becomes famous in conjunction with the development of the American railways. As the country builds its most important infrastructure, Hamilton begins to supply precise clocks to prevent and reduce accidents, thanks to the synchronization of railway timetables. In 1918, with the development of the aviation era, Hamilton began timing the skies and his watches helped ensure the punctuality of the US airmail service from coast to coast. Since then, Hamilton has been synonymous with aviation and is currently the official timekeeper of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. Innovation is one of the keys to Hamilton's success: some of its important developments have changed the world of watchmaking forever in the mid-twentieth century. In 1957, the Ventura became the first electric clock in the world powered by a battery and in 1970 Pulsar was born, the first digital LED clock in the world. Since 2011 Hamilton has been producing its movements together with ETA and this allows the brand to integrate power reserves of up to 80 hours in some calibres. For almost 90 years, Hamilton has been known as the "Movie Brand", thanks to its close collaboration with the world of Hollywood. Since 1974 Hamilton has been part of the Swatch Group and, in 2003, moved the headquarters and production to Bienne, in the heart of Swiss watchmaking. Hamilton watches now boast the prestigious Swiss-made label, but Hamilton is still American in spirit, as it was when it was founded in Pennsylvania in 1892. From railways to the skies, from the depths of the ocean to the thousand lights of the city, with movements automatic or quartz, Hamilton watches represent the perfect combination of American spirit and Swiss precision.
